Are epilators a good method of hair removal?

I've never used an epilator but i am thinking about purchasing the braun silk epil.I've heard with continued use hair grows back thinner and less noticable is that true?Because i'd hate to spend all that money for it to act just like a razor.I'm planning on using it for body hair(fine hair on my back).

i use it on my legs and its great, i only use it about once a month and the hair doest grow back prickly it grows back like normal hair......it hurts a little more than shaving but when u get used to it its fine and if me (13 yr old) can do it, then u can too! and cant cut urself
