Paraffin Wax

Is the number of whales available for the manufacture of candles confusion? If yes, you're not alone! Candle making is a pastime popular and as such the number of new supply coming onto the market is huge. Read on to learn how to select the appropriate wax for your projects manufacturing candles.

Common waxes

Bead Wax - Cera balls sold in small granules (in a variety of colors and odors) rather than solid pieces. Pearls of wax is considered more convenient because it is easier to measure the exact amount needed for a project. Heel wax can be melted completely, or added to the wax upon cooling to retain its shape.

Beeswax - Beeswax is very popular and has been evaluated as a high quality wax (like the combustion is slow), with a pleasant smell. The wax is available in yellow and white blocks or sheets. Sheets of beeswax really do not need to melt the candles created. Instead, you can wrap the wax around the wick. This type of veil is the easiest to do. Wait candles beeswax with more than 10% to be more difficult to remove from molds - For this reason, the wax is not recommended for beginners unless used for container candles. The wax is also more expensive than paraffin and that should be taken into account. Finally, candles are the most difficult of smell and therefore should not be used for projects where the smell is a primary interest (such as an aromatherapy candle.)

Lately there has been a movement towards sustainable palm oil, such the establishment of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.)

Paraffin - Paraffin is a petroleum product, is more commonly used in the manufacture of candles. The benefits of paraffin wax are that it is easy to find, inexpensive and odorless. Paraffin is also sold as mixtures beeswax (which then increases the time by candles.)

Soy - Soy wax is derived from soybeans and has been available on the market the last ten years. Soy wax is the wax of the only natural and environmental candle, with the exception of beeswax, which is more expensive. The soy wax is that it takes 50% more than paraffin candles because of the slower pace of merger. Candles soy wax also produce less soot is easily flavored, and it is easy to clean. Soy wax is considered excellent for making container candles.
